Dec 6, 2006, 20:15 GMT
Regina, Saskatchewan - Saskatchewan named Kent Austin its new head coach on Wednesday, signing the former Roughriders quarterback to a three-year contract.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Austin joins the Riders after serving as the offensive coordinator for Toronto from 2004-06, helping the Argonauts to a Grey Cup championship in '04.
He also guided Saskatchewan to a championship as the signal-caller in 1989, when he earned the Grey Cup MVP.
'We are delighted to welcome Kent and his family back to our province,' said Riders' general manager and vice president of football operations Eric Tillman.
In 1999, Austin was inducted into the Roughrider Plaza of Honor for his services from 1987-93.
