Oct 18, 2006, 17:45 GMT
Toronto, ON - Calgary's Henry Burris and Markus Howell, along with Toronto defensive back Byron Parker and Winnipeg lineman Gavin Walls, were honored as the top players for Week 18 of the CFL season.
Burris, the Stampeders quarterback and record-setter at Temple University, completed 21-of-37 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns, while also running for a score, as Calgary upended the B.C. Lions 32-25. It was Burris' third honor of 2006.
The Special Teams Player of the Week award went to Howell, who returned five punts for 87 yards, including a 57-yard scamper that set up a score.
On defense, Parker earned distinction by returning an interception 75 yards for a touchdown. The pick, against Edmonton's Ricky Ray, helped Parker set a league record for total interception return yards in a season with 342. Parker has seven interceptions this season, four of which he returned for touchdowns. He was also honored for the third time this year.
Lineman of the Week honors went to the Blue Bombers' Walls. The four-time 2005 recipient recorded three sacks as Winnipeg beat Hamilton, 29-22.
