Burris leads Calgary over Edmonton

Calgary, AB - Henry Burris accumulated 398 total yards while throwing and running for a touchdown to lead Calgary past Edmonton, 44-23, in their traditional Labor Day showdown.
Burris completed 16-of-25 passes for 310 yards, while rushing eight times for 88 yards for the Stampeders (7-4), who have won four in a row. Joffrey Reynolds ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
Ricky Ray threw for 279 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for the Eskimos (3-7), who are in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in 34 years.
After the teams exchanged field goals in the first quarter, Sandro DeAngelis's 23-yard field goal gave Calgary the lead to start the second quarter.
The Eskimos took a 10-6 lead on their next possession as Ray hooked up with Jason Tucker for a 37-yard strike, but the Stampeders scored two straight touchdowns to assume a 20-10 advantage.
On its ensuing possession, Calgary marched 80 yards on just six plays and scored as Reynolds rushed seven yards to put the Stampeders back in front. Then, on Edmonton's next possession, Brian Clark stripped the ball from Eskimos running back Troy Davis and ran it back 32 yards for a touchdown.
Sean Fleming added a 32-yard field goal for Edmonton, but Burris scored on an impressive 16-yard run as time expired in the first half to give the Stampeders a 27-13 lead at the break.
Ray then hooked up with Trevor Gaylor for a 32-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter to bring the Eskimos within a touchdown, but DeAngelis nailed a 41-yarder and Reynolds scored from five yards out in the fourth quarter to give Calgary a 17-point lead.
A late Fleming field goal cut Edmonton's deficit to 14, but Wes Cates hauled in a 74-yard touchdown reception to ice the game.
Game Notes
Gaylor finished with four receptions for 108 yards, while Derrell Mitchell collected 10 passes for 100 yards.
DeAngelis is the CFL's leading scorer.
Calgary improved to 5-1 at home, while Edmonton remained winless on the road (0-5).
