Alouettes still unbeaten after rout of Argos

Montreal, QC - Former New England Patriots first-round draft pick Robert Edwards had 17 carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns as the Montreal Alouettes routed the Toronto Argonauts, 31-7, at McGill Stadium.
Anthony Calvillo completed 23-of-37 passes for 242 yards for the Alouettes (7-0), who are enjoying their best start to a season since winning their first eight in 2002. Ben Cahoon caught six passes for 65 yards.
Spergon Wynn completed 11-of-16 passes for 94 yards and threw one interception for the Argonauts (2-5), who have dropped five of their last six games. John Williams rushed for 24 yards on 10 carries.
Montreal got on the board with 7:32 remaining in the first quarter with a one- yard run by Edwards. The Alouettes added a 23-yard field goal by Damon Duval with 1:12 left for a 10-point lead heading into the second.
Montreal added six more points in the second quarter on a pair of field goals by Duval. The first was a 23-yarder with 8:26 left and the next came with two ticks under three minutes remaining from the 27-yard line.
Duval kept things going in the third on a 37-yarder with 11:56 remaining to put Montreal ahead, 19-0, and a 16-yarder with 1:33 to go. The Alouettes added two more points on a safety that Noel Prefontaine conceded with 25 seconds left.
Montreal augmented its shutout with 8:20 left in the fourth quarter as Edwards converted a two-yard run for a 31-0 lead.
Toronto finally scored thanks to its defense in the fourth quarter. Khalil Carter returned an interception 84 yards with 2:42 remaining for the only Argonaut points.
Montreal recorded 481 total yards of offense compared to only 110 by Toronto.
Game Notes
This was the first meeting between the two teams since Montreal defeated Toronto 33-17 in the East Division final for the third time in two years.
Montreal has lost only six games at McGill Stadium since 2002, and none since last August 18.
