Toronto, ON - Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Jason Armstead and linebacker Jackie Mitchell captured the offensive and defensive players of the week for the fifth week of the campaign.
Armstead torched British Columbia with six catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns during the Roughriders' 29-28 victory. One of his six receptions was a 54-yard score.
Mitchell made a pivotal play in the victory over the Lions, sacking BC signal- caller Dave Dickenson and forcing an ensuing fumble. The sack and fumble led to a game-tying touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
Hamilton's Tim Cheatwood was selected as the lineman of the week with four tackles, while Montreal's Clint Kent took the special teams honor. Kent recovered a Damon Duval punt in the second quarter, setting up a Mike Vilimek major. In the third stanza, Kent jumped on a fumble by Winnipeg kick returner Albert Johnson. On the next play, Thyron Anderson scored a touchdown in the 44-16 rout of the Blue Bombers.
