Despite thousands of squiffy British fans descending on Las Vegas, and all their chanting and sing-alongs, the technician, Floyd Mayweather, came out victorious; he's really pulled out a masterclass, both in boxing and PR.
The press build-up was an intense boxing drama in a division which rarely takes center stage in modern boxing.
The flashy American has played up to his villainous persona so well that pretty boy Floyd seemed to be taking ego cues from the iconic and unapologetic boxer, Muhammed Ali.
Even Americans were keen for Hatton - Manchester's working-class bloke who is as unpretentious as they come.
The boos that erupted during the National Anthem were uncalled for, bad show on yer', British fans. We would never do that during the Queen's song. Show a bit of class next time, eh?
The Dec. 8 fight, carried live on HBO Pay-Per-View, featured the highly anticipated showdown between two undefeated superstars in the prime of their careers: Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton.
Mayweather scored a thrilling 10th round KO triumph to close out a banner year for the sport's pound-for-pound king.

I think it was a great fight. Could have been better if Joe Cortez would have stepped outside himself and just referee a match for once. 'I'm fair, but I'm firm' he says, I say 'let them fight, and get the F*** out of the way Cortez'. He set the tone for the fight not letting Hatton get inside. I still think Floyd would have won, but it would have been an even better fight.
