Deerfield Beach, FL - Felix Trinidad will once again step into the ring, this time against Roy Jones Jr.
Promoter Don King announced the fight Monday with a likely January date at a site to be determined, possibly New York's Madison Square Garden.
An icon in his native Puerto Rico, the 34-year-old Trinidad (42-2, 35 KOs), a former champion in three weight classes, hasn't fought since losing a 12-round unanimous decision to Ronald 'Winky' Wright on May 14, 2005.
Trinidad took over two years off before beating Ricardo Mayorga in October 2004 and then lost to Wright.
The 38-year-old Jones (51-4, 38 KOs) has won his last two fights against lesser-known opponents, beating Prince Badi Ajamu and Anthony Hanshaw both in 12-round unanimous decisions. Before that Jones, the former undisputed light heavyweight champion, had lost three consecutive bouts, two of them to Antonio Tarver.
Jones and Trinidad agreed to fight at 170 pounds.
