Daegu, South Korea - The world athletics championships are all but sold out with 97 per cent of the tickets gone, organizing committee co-president Cho Hae Nyoung said on Thursday.
In total, 453,962 tickets are on offer for the nine-day championships at Daegu stadium from Saturday onwards for which 1,945 athletes from 202 countries are entered to compete in 47 events.
Cho told the IAAF congress that local organizers are ready to deliver a top class event as the worlds come to mainland Asia for the first time after two earlier editions in Japan - Tokyo 1991 and Osaka 2007.
