Jan 11, 2011, 15:48 GMT
Berlin - Jamaican sprint superstar Usain Bolt will run the 200 metres at the Bislett Games meet in Oslo on June 9, the ruling body IAAF said on Tuesday.
Bolt, 24, is the reigning world and Olympic champion in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m and holds the world record over the three distances.
The Oslo meet, which is part of the Diamond League elite series, is the first event Bolt has confirmed to particate in this year. The season is highlighted by the world championships in Daegu, South Korea, which start in late August.
'Every meet is important for me in the build up to defending my (world) titles. My competition at Bislett and several other Diamond League meets throughout the season will be an important stepping stone towards that goal,' said Bolt in an IAAF statement.
'My preparations have gone really well, the injury problem I had during the summer is fully healed and my training has gone according to plan.'
Bolt had a low-key year by hist standard in 2010 and, bothered by an Achilles tendon problem, was beaten for the first time by American rival Tyson Gay in the 100m.
