Bolt secures world championship place with victory over Powell

Kingston - - Three-time Olympic gold medallist and current world record holder Usain Bolt saw off a challenge from compatriot Asafa Powell to win the men's 100 metres title at the Jamaican Championships. Bolt, who set the record of 9.69 seconds at last summer's Beijing Games, claimed victory at Kingston's National Stadium Saturday with a time of 9.86 seconds to register the year's fastest non-assisted time. Powell finished second at 9.97 with Michael Frater third in 10.02. The win means Bolt is assured of a place at the World Championships in Berlin, which run August 15-23.
