Wind-aided Tyson Gay sprints 100m in 9.68 seconds

Eugene, Oregon - A strong backwind aided Tyson Gay in sprinting 100 meters in 9.68 seconds at the U.S. Olympic trials Sunday in Eugene, Oregon. Though the time was the fastest ever it doesn't count as a world record due to the 4.1-metres-per-second tailwind. Anything above 2.0 is not allowed for record purposes. Behind Gay was Walter Dix at 9.80 seconds, who overtook Darvis Patton in the final 20 metres for second place. Patton timed 9.84 seconds. Jamaica9s Usain Bolt set the world-record of 9.72 seconds in a meet in late May.
