Aug 31, 2007, 0:04 GMT
Osaka, Japan - Two-time champion and world record holder Olimpiada Ivanova didn't even last the first kilometre as she pulled out of the 20km walk injured at the world championships on Friday.
Ivanova, 37, said she injured her lower back and right leg during skiing six months ago and still has not overcome it. Competing in her first event of the year, Ivanova pulled out before the athletes had left Nagain stadium.
'I hoped to be OK, but I felt some pain and had to quit,' she said.
Ivanova won world titles 2001 and 2005 and also has an Olympic silver from 2004.
