Gebrselassie wins marathon in Fukuoka

Fukuoka, Japan - Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia got his third major marathon win on Sunday when he dominated the classic race in Fukuoka.
Gebrselassie, a two-time Olympic 10,000 metres champion, ran away from his rivals in the final three kilometres and clocked 2 hours 6 minutes 52 seconds over the 42.195km distance. His earlier wins came in Amsterdam 2005 and Berlin earlier this year.
Dmitri Baranovskiy of Ukraine came second in 2:07:15, with two- time world champion Jaouad Gharib of Morocco third in 2:07:19 hours.
