Cheruiyot wins Chicago Marathon; injured after fall

Chicago, IL - Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya won the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, finishing the race in a time of 2 hours, 7 minutes and 35 seconds.
Cheruiyot was unable to celebrate his victory though, as after crossing the finish line, he slipped and banged his head on the ground. Cheruiyot remained down for a few minutes before being transported to a hospital for a precautionary exam.
Cheruiyot edged fellow Kenyan Daniel Njenga by just five seconds for the victory.
Berhane Adere of Ethiopia won the women's portion of the race with a time of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 42 seconds.
