British runner Ohuruogu banned one year for missing drug tests
Sep 15, 2006, 18:44 GMT
London - British 400-metres runner Christine Ohuruogu has been given a one-year ban by UK Athletics for missing three out-of-competition drug tests, the British federation said Friday.
The Commonwealth champion missed three tests within 18 months, with the last one coming just before last month's European Championships.
Ohuruogu had blamed the third missed test on a change to her training schedule.
'I am utterly devastated and completely heartbroken by the decision to exclude me from competing,' she said in a statement.
She added she would now 'be forced to rationally consider my athletics future in light of today's decision.'
