European athletics association to publish doping results Friday
Aug 29, 2006, 14:31 GMT
Lausanne, Switzerland - The European Athletics Association (EAA) is to publish Friday the results of all 315 doping controls at the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden earlier this month, the association said Tuesday.
EAA spokeswoman Emily Lewis also confirmed the EAA would be looking further into 23 blood tests of 151 samples taken which showed unusual haemoglobin levels.
Lewis said the test results had been sent to the sport's international federation IAAF and the matter was now in its hands.
The EAA had said Monday the results did not necessarily indicate doping but was something 'which merits further investigation.'
High levels of haemoglobin may be a sign of blood doping, but some athletes can naturally develop abnormal levels, a spokesman said.
