Powell matches 100-meter record, again
Aug 19, 2006, 0:32 GMT
Zurich, Switzerland - Asafa Powell of Jamaica equaled the world record for the 100 meters on Friday with a time of 9.77 seconds.
It was the second time this summer that he has accomplished the feat, also clocking a 9.77 in Gateshead, England.
Powell had previously set the record in Athens last June and saw the mark matched last month by American Justin Gatlin. Gatlin had actually bettered the record in Qatar with a time of 9.76 seconds, but an error in the official timing set it back to 9.77.
