New York, NY - The Arena Football League is trying to find a new broadcast partner after breaking off talks Friday with NBC on a contract extension.
'NBC has been a great partner,' AFL commissioner David Baker said. 'We are forever grateful to them for exhibiting our game with the utmost respect and integrity. We wish them well, but are also excited to begin a new chapter that will continue our unprecedented growth.'
The AFL and NBC just finished a four-year contract agreement. It started with a two-year deal in 2003 and continued with an extension in 2005. The AFL added a national cable deal with OLN this past February.
'Unfortunately we were unable to reach an agreement. We've enjoyed our partnership with the Arena Football League,' NBC Sports president Ken Schanzer said. 'It's a great game with great people. We wish them all the best.'
