Director Steven Spielberg and his family are to give $1.5 million to help the victims of the destructive tsunami, which has killed over 100,000 people around the Indian Ocean rim.
The Spielberg’s want to help those displaced by the disaster; the money will be divided between Save The Children, Care and Oxfam.
A spokesman for the family said they normally keep their donations quiet, but on this occasion wanted to encourage other to help the relief effort.
Spielberg is currently directing “War of the Worlds”, which stars Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.
