From Monsters and Critics.com Soundtracks Reviews Tyler Bates has come full circle. First he composed music for the ancient Spartans to kill and by killed by (300) and now he propels ahead into the future for some Mad Max types to greet their Doomsday. Doomsday is a film about the apocalyptic future where a super virus has reduced Scotland to a quarantined wasteland. Eden Sinclair (Rhona Mitra) has to lead a team into the Highlands for a cure when the thought contained virus starts showing up in England. Judging from the box art, the Scots that have survived have broken into hostile groups, ala Mad Max judging by the Mohawks, tattoos, etc. Bates produces a score fitting an action movie, but the soundtrack also has ‘Dog Eat Dog’ by Adam and the Ants, ‘Two Tribes (Carnage Mix, how appropriate!)’ by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and oddly ‘The Can Can’ performed by Ariel Rechtshaid. The film is billed as a homage to flicks like Escape from New York, Mad Max (and sequels), and the like. The picture looks action packed and the music only hints that it will be a fun ride - that is if you’re not being pursued by a group of bloodthirsty Scotsmen (and Scotsladies, don’t want to be sexist). © Copyright 2007 by monstersandcritics.com.
