Soundtrack Review: 11th Hour

I guess its music to listen to whilst the world burns up, but here’s the soundtrack to the Leonardo DiCaprio produced documentary on global warming.  DiCaprio brought together many thinkers, including Mikhail Gorbachev and physicist Stephen Hawking, to discuss global climate change.

What amuses me is that this CD would probably not be considered exactly environmentally friendly in that it’s made from a mixture of chemicals and would last of eons if I chucked it into the nearest landfill (so should I get in good with Mom Nature and tell you not to buy it? Hmmmm).

But I digress, I didn’t know what to expect from this one and thought that these might be protest tunes or the like, but they turned out to be instrumentals.  Some of the contributors include Dirty Three (love that name), Deaf Center (love that one even more), Cocteau Twins, and even actor Lukas Haas.

The music can be very relaxing (since we appear to be told we’re doomed) and only a few actually sound like a dirge.  You might want to pick the CD up if you’re a fan of the documentary (but again they’re not biodegradable you know).
