Nobel Son concerns Barkley Michaelson who is trying to finish Ph.D. thesis and finds out that his dad, Eli MIchaelson, won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry.

Barkley and his mother, forensic psychiatrist Sarah, discover they are living with Eli, a philandering man-eating monster. Then, Barkley is kidnapped and his father refuses to pay the $2,000,000 ransom.The movie stars Alan Rickman, Bryan Greenberg, Mary Steenburgen, Bill Pullman, Eliza Dushku, Danny DeVito, Ted Danson and Ernie Hudson. It's directed by Randall Miller. DJ/re-mixer Grammy-nominee Paul Oakenfeld composed and performed most of the 14 tracks for the film. The other performers included Spitfire, Blossom Dearie, The Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada and Emjay and the Atari Babies. Oakenfeld's music is very techno-oriented and repetitive. If you're into that dance-type music, this CD is for you. The tracks are well-produced and multi-layered with various sounds which make them interesting. The songs that I liked were ones with vocals. They include "So Clear" performed by Emjay and The Atari Babies, a good dance tune. The Chemical Brothers' "Come Inside," "Just One of Those Things (Brazilian Girls Remix") by Blossom Dearie, which was written by Cole Porter! And "Let Me Be Real" by the Bad Apples.
