Soundtrack Review: Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

The second film from the series of books by C.S. Lewis has it theaters. The soundtrack now also arrives from Walt Disney Records.

The film tells of the children from the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe who are drawn back into Narnia, but to a country that they do not recognize as it’s 1300 years since they were last there (even though it’s only been a year in their time) and the land is in a terrible state in that it’s being ruled by a despot. The four Pevensie children have to help the rightful heir, Prince Caspian, to ascend to the throne so that the land will be peaceful again. The score by Harry Gregson-Williams is both epic and sweeping, as you’d imagine from a fantastical summer film. The movie also comes with a collection of songs. Switchfoot performs ‘This is Home’ (no doubt for the closing credits), Regina Spektor performs ‘The Call,’ Oren Lavie performs ‘A Dance around the Memory Tree,’ and Hanne Hukkelberg performs ‘Lucy,’ which was not used in the film and is a bonus track. Speaking of bonus, you also get a photo gallery and the movie trailer if you put the CD in your PC. I haven’t seen the movie but the score is certainly epic.
