Soundtrack for the movie Ratatouille ...more
Remy (Patton Oswalt) has refined tastes and relishes food of the gourmet variety. That’s not so bad, but the problem is that Remy is a rat. Rats are known for their gourmand qualities (that is they appreciate quantity over quality) and basically eat trash. So this makes Remy quite the odd duck la’orange in his family.
When’s he separated from his family, chance brings him to the restaurant of his hero, the late Chef Auguste Gusteau (Brad Garrett). His kitchens are now run by the former sous-chef Skinner (Ian Holm). Remy finds that if he pulls the hair of the hapless dishwasher Alfredo Linguini (Lou Romano) that he can control his movements and Remy’s idea of becoming a chef may finally come to reality. Things begin to look up for Remy and Alfredo, but the food critic Anton Ego (Peter O’Toole) decides to review the restaurant and since his stinging review of Gusteau caused him to drop dead, the heat is on Mon ami.
Michael Giacchino infuses his score with a delightful French flavor and it’s an upbeat and delightful confection. The only track with a vocal element is “La Festin” performed by Camille.
The hectic nature of a "Real Gourmet Kitchen" makes you almost envision the sights and sounds of a busy kitchen. ‘Ratatouille’ is a delightful score from a wonderful film.
