Accepted is about a one schlep that gets tired of getting rejection letters from college so he does something about it. What does he do? He starts his own imaginary institution, South Harmon Institute of Technology (aka S.H.I.T. – wakka, wakka, wakka). However, soon other rejects are applying for admission and who would want to turn away their money, right?
When a high school burnout discovers he's been rejected from every college he's applied to, he creates a fake university in order to fool his overzealous parents.
M&C’s DVD review of the actual film is not too kind to the film (rent Animal House is the final suggestion of the review). However, I come here not to bury Caesar…. oh wait a minute. I come here not to review the film but to review the soundtrack.
The movie may be dross, but there are some good bands on the soundtrack and some nice tunes. The tracks are “U-Mass” by the Pixies, “Gravity Rides Everything” by Modest Mouse, “The Hives – Declare Guerre Nucleaire” by the Hives, “Bole 2 Harlem” by Bole 2 Harlem, “Eleanor Rigby” by David Schommer (featuring David Jensen), “TKO” by Le Tigre, “Where Do I Begin” by the Chemical Brothers (featuring Beth Orton), “Sherman’s Way” by David Schommer (featuring dialogue from the film), “Keepin’ Your Head Up” by The Ringers, “Don’t You (Forget about Me)” by David Schommer (featuring Lucy Woodward, “Holiday” by Weezer, “Let the Drummer Kick” by Citizen Cope, “To Be Young” by Ryan Adams, and “You Think We Suck” by Ape Fight.
Well, the movie may have sucked, but the soundtrack rocked. My favorite is “Eleanor Rigby.” Even if you didn’t like the movie there’s probably a song or two to rock out to on the soundtrack.
