Soundtrack Review: ‘Stranger than Fiction’

I have to admit up front that I’ve not seen Stranger than Fiction, just the trailer. It looks to be Will Ferrell’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Meaning an actor whose know for comedy branching out into something that might be considered a comedic drama. I don’t want to sound like I’m insulting either film because I liked Eternal Sunshine and want to see Stranger than Fiction. It’s more that with both films you actually might get to see the star act and not just be funny – there’s a difference you know.

That being said, I have to say that I really liked the soundtrack to Stranger than Fiction and it makes me want to catch the film even more (probably on DVD). The album feature several songs from the group Spoon as well as efforts from their lead singer Britt Daniel. The tracks include “The Book I Write” by Spoon, “Going Missing” by Maximo Park, “Whole Wide World” by Wreckless Eric, “Flours” by Britt Daniel/Brian Reitzell, “The Way we get by” by Spoon, “Mind your own business” by Delta 5, “Bottles & Bones (Shade & Sympathy)” by Califone, “Writer’s block” by Daniel/Reitzell, “My Mathematical Mind” by Spoon, “La Petite Filie De La Mer” by Vangelis, “That’s Entertainment (the demo version)” by The Jam, “Dubbing in the back seat” by The Upsetters, “Auditor” by Daniel/Reitzell, “Vittorio E.” by Spoon, and “In Church (Cyann & Ben Version) by M83. I really liked this soundtrack and am happy to have some Spoon in my collection. I’ve heard some of their stuff, but never got around to buying an album (mea culpa Spoon). ‘Stranger than Fiction’ is now available at Amazon. Visit the soundtrack database for more information.
