The film may hit the big screen on Friday, but the 22-track A Scanner Darkly Soundtrack is now available from Lakeshore Records and features a score from Graham Reynolds. The soundtrack has a suggested retail price of $18.98.

Reynolds’ soundtrack features dark titles “Swallowed Up in Victory,” and “The Dark World Where I Dwell,” that are meant to reflect the film’s unique visual style. Reynolds’ musical career matches the uniqueness of the film. He is the composer of several classical pieces  ranging from symphonies to operas. He is also the drummer and pianist for the Golden Arm Trio – a band that style is a mix of genres.

The film is director Richard Linklater’s adaptation of the Phillip K. Dick’s 1977 novel. Set in the future, the film follows an undercover drug agent (Keanu Reeves) follows an order to spy on his friends with paranoid and schizophrenic consequences.

The film also stars Winona Ryder as Donna. Robert Downey Jr. and Woody Harrelson. Linklater filmed the movie using the process of rotoscoping where the film was first shot in live-action, and then the footage was then painted over.

A Scanner Darkly Soundtrack is now available at Amazon. Visit the soundtrack database for more information and a complete track listing. Visit the movie database for more information on the film.
