Diary of a Mad Black Woman Soundtrack Details

The film, which opened at #1 this week, prominently showcases music from the soundtrack. The 12-song CD will feature a breathtaking array of female singers, including Motown's own India.Arie, who delivers the disc's first single, "Purify Me."
Diary Of A Mad Black Woman, the soundtrack, also features new songs by Natalie Cole, Angie Stone, Cheryl Pepsi Riley, Patti LaBelle and Tamia, among others. The collection of songs is crucial to the film's religious infused plot, about an African American woman, Helen, (played by Kimberly Elise) tossed out of her mansion by her successful but philandering husband. The character soon finds herself on a journey of self exploration and rebirth that reunites her with her spiritual and family ties.
The film, which opened at #1 with estimated weekend ticket sales of 22 million, showcases some of the music contained in the soundtrack.

It is not due out until April, but I would expect Amazon and other online merchants to start listing it soon...I have dropped the record label a note and we will post any further details if we get them.
I thought the soundtrack was great. Listening to the selections throughout the movie made me want to find it ASAP. If anyone knows how to get, buy, ect... a copy, let me know.

I love all of Tyler Perry's plays! I especially love the new film 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman'. As soon as the movie, plays, and soundtracks legally hits the stores I will surely purchase them. Tyler Perry is a true role model and an excellent product of the Black community.

I just walked in the door after seeing The Diary of a Mad Black Woman. If you haven't seen it-go see it! I cried like a baby and laughed like a fool. I have never gone on line for a soundtrack, but here I am. Damn, we have to wait until April??!!! We drove around after the movie trying to find a copy of the CD, but here I sit...waiting. They got my dollars as soon as it hits the shelf!! Come on April...come on....

i loved the movie. honestly though i saw the play and that was even better. i think i liked it because helen and charles even sang in the play and they didn't in the movie. oh well it was still really good!
I thought I was the only one looking for the soundtrack but apparently not. The song that was playing when Helen was in the restaurant was Toni Braxton, it's call 'Stupid' I love Toni Braxton and waited for the credits at the end of the movie to find out the name of that song. I have to have that soundtrack!

WOW! It's amazing what you come across while you are anticipating for something. I have tried to find these songs myself (Toni Braxton and Father Can You Hear Me). Facts are that the CD will be out April 19 and you are able to order it now on EBAY, but will receive it on that date. There is no way you will be able to hear anything else about it but those facts and the songs listed above. Hopes this helps everyone!

'One of Us', in the movie is sung by Cheryl Pepsi Riley. I've been sitting here listening to it tonight while working on a project for work. I think this is the 7th time I've started it over. :)

I already own most of the songs but will still buy the complete cd because I loved the movie so much. The movie is available in June!
I can't remember the beat/melody off the top of my head but I 'think' the song playing during the barbecue when they're line dancing is 'Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody' by Brick. Other bands have covered it (including Kid N Play). Hope this helps. :)

I love this CD....WOW India Arie and Darlene McCoy have the coolest songs on the soundtrack...these songs are so uplifting and inspirational...I love gospel music but these songs expand the listening audience for inspirational music.....GREAT work INDIA!!! who is the artist to the 'diary of a mad black woman sounttrack I can`t find the artist please help.
I am a music conniseur. This soundtrack is really hot. How did he get ALL of these talented women involed? Tyler is a genius! The songs are really well put together. I was at Tyler Perry's play,'Madea Goes to Jail' and there was this song playing before the show started that put me in the mind of the late seventies but with an India Arie twist that made me wanna dance and do the BUMP with my friends. I knew that India was on the soundtrack but when I went to the table after the show, I asked the young man if they had a copy of the song by India Arie about the sun and moon and stars and he said 'no'. (Tyler tell your people to learn your product at the table ok?) He said,'I have the Diary Soundtrack with India Arie on it but she doesn't mention the sun and moon and stars in her song.' So I bought it anyway thinking he didn't know what he was talking about, but India's song 'Purify Me' was not what I was looking for...As I listened it was the song 'Fallen In Love' by Darlene McCoy. This song is not getting enough publicity folks. I LOVE it! It is a new approach to singing about God that doesn't really make you feel like you shouldn't be singing it if you don't go to church. It has a universal appeal to it. Made me want to dance and to know that it was talking about God made me wanna dance even more. I took it to work and all of my co-workers of three different races enjoyed it and were all grooving to it. I haven't heard much at all about Darlene McCoy but in my opinion this song is the hottest song on the Soundtrack because of it's fresh appeal...Fantastic Job Tyler!!!! Congrats to Darlene McCoy whoever you are. Do you have a CD?
Why isnt toni braxton on the soundtrack
Maybe it will be on her new CD...it's not on the Soundtrack. It would have been SMARTER to put 'STUPID' on the soundtrack though since her new album is coming out....DUH!!!! Why make her fans wait longer Mr. Record Label people??? Especially since it was in the movie...You guys get high....

I have truly enjoyed tyler perry's plays because they are full of laughs, and at the same time explore moral values of everyday life and have wonderful plots.
