Howard Shore's 'The Aviator' to be released by Decca

By Mark Sung Nov 18, 2004, 0:00 GMT

'Music from the Movies' reports that Howard Shore's original score for Martin Scorsese's 'The Aviator' will be released by Decca Records on 11 January 2005. The score is Shore's first 'non-Tolkien' score since 2002's Spider.

The music for the score was recorded by The Flemish Radio Orchestra in Belgium which Howard Shore conducted at the European premiere of the 'Lord of the Rings Symphony' in April.

The biopic depicts the early years of legendary aviator Howard Hughes' career, from the late 1920's to the mid-1940's. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale and Gwen Stefani. The movie will be released on 17 December.
