Robbie Williams hotly-tipped to sing Bond theme

Robbie Williams has been hotly-tipped to sing the theme tune to the next James Bond movie.
The pop heartthrob has reportedly been approached about lending his vocals to 'Casino Royale'.
Songwriter Tony Christie has penned a track for the upcoming spy thriller, and says he hopes Robbie will sing it. He revealed: 'Robbie's voice would suit it down to the ground - plus he's current and hip so it would be absolutely great if he did it. We tried to make it a typical Bond theme tune with a throbbing dramatic bassline filling the background. 'I'm a huge fan of the old school 007 songs like Shirley Bassey with 'Goldfinger' and Tom Jones singing 'Thunderball', so I tried to give it that authentic sound.' He added: 'We are due to record it in February.' Last year, it was rumoured the singer was a contender to take over from Pierce Brosnan as the dashing spy. However, the star scotched the reports, saying at the time: ''Me from Stoke-On-Trent, doing James Bond? I just don't see it happening.'Copyright 2005 BANG Media International
