At the young age of 26, Sean’s life seems to be over – with him weighing in at more than 800lbs.
TLC’s heartbreaking series My 600-lb Life features people so far gone in their weight, there’s no restoring any normalcy, just the hope that maybe they can get small enough to get bypass surgery, to maybe get them down to a semi-normal weight.
But when people are over 400 pounds, their bone structure changes, their gait, carriage and frame all suffer from the extreme weight burden and they never quite bounce back.
The other problems that even Sean is facing are the festering sores caught in the folds, where sweat and heat rash turn into ersatz bed sores, open ulcerative infections that smell and need constant tending.
Sean, who features on tonight’s episode of My 600-lb life at 9/8c, has a massive growth similar to Milla’s from last week that is protruding from his side.
The weight of this lipedema and the oozing ulcers that are growing in his folds makes washing him a two-person job. His skin is so stretched it is tearing apart.
To urinate or defecate, he must try and wiggle himself to the end of the bed and just let gravity hopefully land it in a giant wash bucket. His mom is his caretaker and she is elderly and heavy herself.
Sean and his mom must make drastic lifestyle changes before a doctor will perform gastric bypass surgery.
The reason for his weight gain is said to be trauma from a divorce, but there must be some other reasons too.
As it stands, Sean is still too heavy for surgery and has no activity to help burn any calories.
Also tonight, at 10/9c, on Fat Chance Ta’Tiana is small by Sean’s standards. She has had feelings for her best friend, Steve, for over a year, but at 242lbs, her weight holds her back as she takes 90 days to lose 80 pounds to put her cards on the table.
