Yes, we need another nurse/doctor show, especially when this time, the nurses are portrayed in a better light -- much more than just doctors' playtoys. I'm sick of that.

Jada was fabulous as always, and the show was really good. I'm a fan of ER and Grey's Anatomy-I'm happy to have another show to add to my repetoire of doctor shows. I look forward to the next episode.

The show was good! I liked it...I also liked the music at the end...Very new and refreshing to see an african american in a lead nurse role.

I had to come to the realization that I just don't like medical shows. I tried watching it but half way through I was just plain bored. Despite my distaste for these types of shows I hope it is received well among other viewers.

I love Jada I think she has the talent to pull this off. I will say I was a bit dissappointed at the first show. I felt that there was soooo much going on maybe too many storylines. I would have rather seen less storylines andmore content for the stories. I am looking forward to seeing how the show evolves.

I was reluctant to watch this show but decided to give it a try. I have never liked Jada's acting but now she has found her role. This is a great great show and I look forward to watching it next week. Good job, Mrs. Pinkett Smith!

As a Richmonder, I was deeply disappointed in Hawthorne. The show failed big-time to capture the essence of Richmond; it could’ve just as easily taken place in Rochester, NY as it could Richmond. One of the things I enjoyed about ER was its ability to capture the essence of Chicago; ER could never work in Detroit. All I saw was two shots of the Richmond Skyline and a reference to Grove Ave and I-95. I can only assume there will be more weak references in coming episodes.

This is a great opportunity to help bring Richmond to peoples homes. I grew up in Detroit, and when people ask me what growing up in Detroit is like I tell them to watch 8 Mile or Gran Torino. Hawthorne and, and should, be Richmond’s Gran Torino.

Seems like Jada wants to compete with her husband and kids, but she just doesn't seem to have the talent to carry it off. In the show, she has the same swaggering talk-to-the-hand attitude that is a turn-off when seeing her in her personal persona. She's hard to like.

And the show has no 'come hither' story line. That was one pathetic Pilot.

I think Jada has found the perfecct role for herself. She seemed so authentic and natural. The show seems to be pretty well-written. I dont even watch hospital shows but i look forward to the next hawthorne.

This show is not realistic at all. If you make a real show about nurses in philadelphia, no one would watch it. It would be a show where all the nurses are lazy. Half of them talk back to doctors telling them to take their own temperatures because they are busy and the other half would be on myspace, outside smoking, or picking up some take out food.

Take it from an RN (i.e. real nurse), this show is just a lot of drama, very little of which flatters nurses or doctors. It offers very little insight on what should be collegial relationships between doctors and nurses.

Finally a show about nurses. I think the first show represented nurses well. Although I do not think nurses and doctors fight as much. Nursing is a great profession and Jada is right person to represent them.

To say the show is not 'real' is a bit back-sided....In an age where even reality tv is a farce, why would you pick at a purposely fictionalized show for being unrealistic?

I am just happy to see a AfAm woman in a leading role...TNT has been doing wonders at making shows which highlight the strengths of women. Women who don't need a man to carry their 'burdens', but decide to include and love them all the same.

I hope ppl don't place Jada into some type of mold due to Will's A list abilities and stardom. She is an underrated actress who could very well outshine any top celebrities today. She does come off in person and on the big screen as a bit uptight....but I do not know her life story...so I do not have a right to judge. For me, her job is to deliver a good show....she does, case closed.

The show is a bit too relaxed at times....but every show needs time to gain momentum.

So sad....without nurses humping the Dr.'s....ppl just don't know how to watch and appreciate the core of medical drama..............reaching beyond the body, into the heart and soul. Th intimacy ......that should take the show far.

GL Jada! (and to the person who said about 'dropping her kids for this'....funny....it's not a problem when men do it.

(But if she leaves Will alone too long....I may be stopping over...Yummy! LOLOL)

Not impressed.Jun 24th, 2009 - 15:10:49

This show was simply boring; it is not on the same level as Saving Grace (awesome) or The Closer (fantastic). Jada's best work was on the TV show 'A Different World'. She seems so aware of the camera in this drama, which lacked depth and really overplayed the 'grieving widow' theme. (Sending ashes up in a hot air balloon? Really?) The only interesting part of the pilot was Aisha Hinds' role as the homeless woman, who had given birth. She out shined Jada's character, in my opinion. This is just something to watch when nothing else is on...

This show is primarily by, for and about strong women of color. All the attractive, intelligent, professional, fully functioning people on the show are black or Latina, including the creative, not-really-rebellious daughter. Those who portray ditsy, blonde-stereotypical-bimbos, sex symbols (batting eyes, bending over a lot, changing, showering, getting lost, etc.) emotionally falling apart or downright idiotic people are white, including the white male nurse. This show is ridiculous in it's reversal and (dare I say it) blatant exaggeration of racial stereotypes of blacks in old 'white' shows to the stereotyping of whites in this 'black' show. Even the white doctor (Alias star Michael Vartan) is in thrall to Hawthorne, the lead character played by Jada Smith in her idealization of Jada production. Unfortunately, for Mrs. Smith, her acting skill (lack of) is highlighted.

I have always been a huge fan of Jada. I find her show very touching, the first show was filled with emotions. I love her acting skills and she picked a great cast to compliment her. Aisha Hinds did a wonderful job playing the angry not so angry homeless crackhead. I love Jada's take no sh.. attitude..her attitude reminds me alot of Dr.Delgados in Strong Medicine. I will find it amazing if Hawthrone can reach the heights that Strong Medicine has. The Smith family is a very talented family.

I was dissapointed to find out that the daughter was some older biracial girl, i wanted so badly for Willow to play that role..But atleast the girl is doing a good job. Im loving her sassy attitude

Pretty girls dont have to buy their own pound- I found that hillarious
