Californication is, without a doubt, the worst show I have ever seen
on television! Stupid..stupid...stupid! Why in the world did Showtime
buy into this garbage? Does anyone really believe this is a comedy series?

David Duchovny is not a smart actor and this is not a major TV series.
If it is on the air for more than a few weeks...I will be very surprised.

This isn't a 'comedy'
Its adult programming, and wonderful, Duchovny gets to be a man with libido, heart and soul.

I'm so tired of seeing the glorification of empty, soulless and spiritually bankrupt people, living boring and uninspired lives. What is particularly reprehensible is to watch the slow killing of a child's purity and soul. There is nothing funny nor interesting about it!!! Californication is TV at it's lowest.

I wish I could hit rewind on my life and undo watching this show. A waste of time and whats more a show which appears to glorify shameless people doing shameless things, in the form of 'entertainment'. In particular the corruption of children. David Duchovny hang your head in shame! Your career has hit rock bottom, as have Channel 10. From the idiots who brought us big brother.

i have watched the pilot and i think its a bit revealing but at the same time you have only seen 40 odd minutes or whatever it is of the show and you guys are already judging it badly.... i mean fair enough that their first impression should have been better but i think if we all watch the rest of the episodes it may become better and more interesting. let me know of your opinions and comments after watching 4 more episodes.....give it a chance

Please DO NOT put this rubish to air....we have enough rubish that our children can just press a button to now without another one. How could you go to bed and think that you did a great day's work by airing this filth for our children {and yours} to see. Before this is taken off the air I will not allow my family to watch TV especially channel ten. I will be hiring the old full of good taste viewing videos for young and old alike where we do not have to supervise what our children are watching.
Thank you for listening and PLEASE do not put the mighty $ before the good of our futrue men and women.
Anne

Showtime's Californication is on late, and is a rated TV - MA show - not intended for children.

It's for adults. And it's a great show!

Grow up. Watch Reba reruns if you are so upset.

so what if I admonish this guy. How many times are you sitting in a theater when some guy pulls some crap and you just want to kick the living !@$!@# out this inconsiderate prick.... but you never do, do you. Would you have smashed the teachers head in puke or would you get into a fight at your own book signing based on your principles? I dont know many people who would, but theyre still out there, or at least californication makes us hope they are. 'Oh please dont show this filth to our children!' No let them be the guy or girl who doesnt say anything to the guy on the cell phone in the theater. The guy or girl who doesnt defend his gf after another guy degrades her. Let them bottle up everything so his and her shrink can write a whole bunch of SSRI scripts for them when theyre wondering where it all went sour.

I am not surprised by the stark contrast in views expressed on Californication. I read here that the show has incited an intense, even bilious reaction in some viewers while for my part, I see it as an entertaining yet frankly sardonic look at modern love as it collides with contemporary life's freedoms and responsibilites.

Well done SHOWTIME and thank you TEN for being brave enough to tell it like it is.

First of all you have to REALIZE that the general public is more desensitized than it was 10 to 30 odd years ago. So for all you people living with your heads up their ass', you are the prime reason this show was made. $#!% happens and this is a &%#$'ed up world we live in. And if you cant see that then you are equally messed up.
Second, this show is the epitamy of what real life is about. Get real or ger lost and stop wasting your precious time hating on things your daughters and sons are probably already waist deep in while instead you could be on your couch watching Oprah promote herself.
Showcase we salute you.

This show is, if not anything else, pretty enjoyable. Please do not read further if you have a 'thing' against spoilers.

As I am not a professional writer, 'thing' works quite well to describe several feelings.

For what I wanted to express >>

Having watched the first season of Californication just recently, I was pretty awed by the way the character has been developed. He has a laid-back approach, true, but nearing the middle to end of the season, shows that not only is he still in love with his long-term girlfriend, but is also attempting to bring himself back in her life.

As the protagonist has been shown to have a decent outlook towards morality, excluding the unfortunate mishap involving his love's fiance's daughter, he is pretty limited in how he tries to get 'Karen' back. That however, does not stop him trying.

Although the explicit scenes may come across as excessive to some, it is the underlying satire and raunchiness that intrigue the audience. Few shows manage to get the right reactions from their viewers. Californication can thankfully be counted amongst them.

However, the entire show is not just about 'Hank' attempting to bring his life under a finer control. The rest of the cast plays a significant role too. Subplots of intricate details have been developed, one of the most involving being the sexual frustration expressed by 'Marcy', wife of Hank's agent 'Charlie'.

The season finale was pretty exciting. Rarely have stranger things occured on a wedding set, be it in reality, or theater. I await with hushed breath for the second season. This series has impressed me beyond bounds.

'Californication' is a great show. It's funny, witty, well-written and the main characters -- Hank, Becca and Karen -- are compelling and complex. This is one of only two TV shows that I look forward to watching.
