From Monsters and Critics.com Smallscreen News Quirky show "Reaper" has been given a Devil of a time, until The CW confirmed they picked it up for a second season. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, as the CW will also announce this on Tuesday at their Upfront event where they announce their full schedule for 2008-2009. THR claims Reaper's Season 2 gets 13 episodes slated for midseason. Likely scenario pairs Reaper with Supernatural on Thursday nights. The show revolves around 20 year-old slacker Sam (Bret Harrison), whose parents went so easy on him. Whether it was school, sports or career choices, Sam's mom (Allison Hossack) and dad (Andrew Airlie) always let him get by with virtually no effort. With no pressure, Sam eschewed college and a career for a dead-end job at a home improvement store while playing video games. Sam is bitter his younger brother Kyle (Kyle Switzer) was pushed to excel and Kyle is bitter that the bar was so low for Sam. Sam's parents had their reasons; unbeknownst to him, they made a deal with the Devil to pawn his soul. His guilt-consumed parents try to explain the circumstances that led them to the forfeit his soul. Enter Satan (Ray Wise) who gives Sam his fate: living life as the Devil's "bounty hunter", tracking down evil souls that have escaped and returning them to Hell. Utilizing an arsenal of bizarre soul catching devices, Sam reluctantly becomes immersed in his worldly life held hostage by his otherworldly Satanic demands. Friends, love interests and family are balanced with his assignments that give him a sense of accomplishment he had not had in his new role as Reaper.
