'Today's' Matt Lauer gets in the middle of Star - Barbara mess

The war of words between Barbara Walters and Star Jones was the hot topic at Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential party last night in New York City.

Matt Lauer weighed in on the feud and discussed a possible Tom Cruise reunion to Extra.

Lauer said, “I love Barbara and she's been someone I've looked up to my entire career and she's been very kind. I don't know what's going to come out of all these exchanges [between Jones and Walters] but I know one thing. It won't change my opinion of her [Walters].”

He added, “I think that every once in a while one person pushes another's buttons and then it's retaliation. You know what. Barbara Walters is Barbara Walters. Let's face it.”

As for a Tom Cruise reunion on the Today show, Lauer responded, “We would love to. It is an open invitation and we’ve had one for a long time…Sooner or later we’re going to have to walk into the same studio and I look forward to it.”
