American Idol celebrates rock with “500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll”

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the American Idol final four (Syesha Mercado, David Cook, Jason Castro and David Archuleta) will celebrate rock with the “500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll” themed show this week. 
 
On Tuesday, May 6th at 8/7 Central, the top 4 singers will channel their inner rock star in an attempt to win the viewers hearts with songs the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s list of “500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.”

The list is a permanent exhibit showcased at the Museum in Cleveland.  The show will also feature footage from the Museum as well as interviews from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation & Museum.
 
Selected by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum curatorial staff and a number of rock critics and historians, these 500 songs are some of rock and roll’s most popular and influential recordings. Arranged by artist and song title, the songs cover a variety of musicians and genres illustrating the evolution of rock and roll over the last century. 
 
Rock Hall visitors can experience digital jukeboxes of all 500 songs in the Ahmet M. Ertegun Main Exhibit Hall. Five touch-screen computer kiosks with headphones allow access to some of rock’s most popular and influential recordings as selected by curators, rock critics and historians.

Arranged by artist and decade, the songs cover a variety of musicians and genres and are accompanied by information about the selection and its role in the evolution of rock and roll.
