From Monsters and Critics.com Smallscreen News Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will perform the halftime show at Super Bowl XLII, to be held Feb. 3 at the U. of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Fox made the announcement in its pregame show Sunday. Variety reports that Petty "has a tough act to follow" in Prince, who performed a stellar show at this year’s NFL championship game. Petty's music was used last year by the NBA during its playoffs.
