MTV chills and thrills Tuesdays: 'Room 401' and 'Scarred' will leave a mark

Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg have been busy boys.  The two have cooked up a new MTV show called "Room 401" that is premiering Tuesday, July 17 at 10pm ET/PT.

MTV's masochistic ouchie boo boo fans will also get a bonus of another viral video series, “Scarred” at 10:30pm ET/PT - Along with special one-hour Installment “Scarred: The Worst of the Worst” at 11:00pm ET/PT.

So there you have it, adrenalin junkies, MTV effectively turns Tuesdays into a night of chills, spills and thrills with a side of hospital triage and lessons learned the hard way with the premiere of their new series “Room 401,” as well as an extended season of the cringefest series “Scarred” -- all beginning July 17 at 10pm ET/PT. 

“Room 401” sweeps unaware victims into the center of mini horror movies that play out live in front of their eyes. In this age of CGI and edit room after effects, “Room 401” unfolds live. Mind bending illusions guaranteed to make you hide under the blankie.

From the reanimation of the dead, to chain-saw mishaps, to sinister sushi experiences, each episode will contain four “scares” sure to tingle the spine.

Think "Punk'd" on horror genre steroids with a dash of Criss Angel.

“Scarred,” the half-hour series exploring the stories behind the sickest clips on the web, continues its run in a new 10:30pm ET/PT timeslot offering more gross-out viral exploits.

if you are unaware of this show - watch it with your teens while saying, "see, I told you that was a stupid idea" or "that idiot put his eye out doing a wheelie."  Good times and life lessons to reinforce with the kids.

This show is reality overload, as hardcore footage displays extreme sports nuts and their proudest accident moments caught on video.  Gross out close-ups and gnarly scars ensue.

Surprisingly, very few of the scarred victims express any desire to change their Evel Knievel ways. 

Hosted by Papa Roach's Jacoby Shaddix, "Scarred" provides a cautionary view of this growing and hugely popular trend of defying death with hairbrained tricks. 

The tattooed marvel and host Jacoby, who has so many piercings the kid probably whistles when it's windy, counts down the worst of the worst, compound fractures, skin grafts, pulverized teeth, internal hemorrhaging, and hematomas the size of Neptune.

Some say that the definition of insanity is repeating the same behavior and expecting a different result.
