Gervais' Extras Heads Stateside Following HBO Deal

Comedian and creator of The Office Ricky Gervais' new show Extras will air in the States, following a deal between network HBO and the BBC.Gervais will play a bit-part actor, Andy Millman, who is constantly winging about missing leading roles.Kate Winslet, Ben Stiller and Jude Law are all set to appear in series along with numerous other stars.

The first episode will see the comedian playing police officer who is appearing in a film starring Samuel L. Jackson. Speaking about his character Gervais said: "I play a grumpy and sarcastic character who hates being around actors and showbiz types, preferring to lie on my couch at home watching TV. It’s a stretch but I think I can pull it off.”"Extras" has been scripted by Gervais and pen partner Stephen Merchant, co-starring will be Scottish actress Ashley Jenson.
