Orlando Bloom the New Doctor Who with Assistant Prila Loof

By James Wray Apr 1, 2005, 6:51 GMT

M&C can exclusively reveal that heartthrob Orlando Bloom will take over from Christopher Eccleston as the new Doctor Who.

Bloom reckons the Doctor's casual garb will make a nice change from the chaffing chain mail he has put up with while filming "Kingdom of Heaven" or all the sandals, sand and sweat of "Troy."

He also sees some advantages in the time travel aspects. He is said to think the Tardis may be the only way he can escape his rabid fans!

Reports say his new assistant will be Prila Loof.

You seriously think the same orlando bloom who has been in movies such as Pirates of the Carribean, Lord of the rings and Ridley scotts Kingdom of Heaven would seriously even consider this role???...anyway he's filming Elizebethan Town, bothe Pirates Sequals and may be even the New young James Bond...You need some new research's.

Errr, no way will he be playing Dr. Who. Hello??????? He's ORLANDO BLOOM for Christ's sake, not a flipping Holby City actor! Like he'd stop filming movies for this bag of shite. Oh please. He's way better than this. Anyway, like the other reviewer said, he's filming 'Elizabeth Town' with Kirsten Dunst and 'Pirates of the Caribbean 2,' so I highly doubt he'll have time for a low-budget pile of BBC crap. No offence.

Claire Gloom - STFU you criticise the April Fool but it had you fooled innit? You nearly spat out your flipping dummy. And Dr Who is not low budget, it is one of the beebs top rated dramas and a flagship show. Chris Eccleston is a far more respected actor than Orlando Bloom who has yet to carry a film on his own.

Well, ya had me fooled...not ashamed to admit it! And it was funny as all get-out!! Thanks for the laughs..YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE'S WHO GOT ME!!!

Excuse me, Fur Q, it didn't have me fooled, and also, Orlando Bloom has carried a film on his own. The Calcium Kid. And, Chris Eccleston can't be that much cop considering I'd never even heard of him before Dr. Who, and I watch a hell of a lot of TV and films. And no, I didn't spit my dummy out. I just thought that if you're gonna do Prila Loof do it right. So there.

Hi Folks,

It was just an April Fool story and meant to amuse not offend or annoy. The details regarding Piper staying on for series two were not included for that very reason. Plus I had to get the anagram into the story to make sure no-one took it too seriously.

Next year we will try and do something a bit better.

Ha, Christopher Eccleston is a decent actor im just saying he aint no orlando bloom, Kingdom of Heaven is out next month so i suppose we can see if Orlando is capable of holding the screen without a Brad Pitt or a Johnny Depp. All im saying is Christopher Eccleston is an Ok tv actor but he's never going to be a movie star, maybe he can get a part on Holby city, ot footballers wives? ha

The Great British 200m/400m runner....I also think he had a spell presenting Record Breakers back in the day!! I think he would bring so many qualitys to the role such a good looks and charm!!

Mike HuntApr 11th, 2005 - 09:08:16

I also think Kris Akabusi would make a good Doctor Who, he may also be able to create a wider ethnic market for the show! I think Floella Benjamin would make a good assistant either her or Whoopi Gholdberg

I cant belive that there is some sort of FCKING idiot thinks the real orlando bloom is going to be the lead role in a bbc production... Think about it.

Didnt he also present Gladiators, the one that used to shout 'Aauuuga' before the adverts came on...if so yes i think this would work and it would be nice to see a black play him as hes always a white man...or they could use Dion Dublin, hes playing days are almost over.

Mike Hunt i think you have taken it a little bit too far with Whoopi Goldberg as the assistant....I think her dreads might not suit the role!! I was thinking more Kareena out of Eastenders for the stupid sidekick role!!
