Reggie Watts teams up with The Climate Reality Project (VIDEO)

By April Neale Mar 20, 2013, 14:51 GMT

We here at M&C are huge Reggie Watts fans, and we just missed the man in Austin at SXSW 2013.  So bummed about that.

The musician/writer/comic is collaborating The Price of Carbon, a new Climate Reality Project that released a video today.

Narrated by enigmatic comedian and musician Reggie Watts, it’s the latest in a series of high-profile video shorts from Climate Reality to connect the dots between the causes and impacts of climate change.

Reportedly Watts was at SXSW in Austin for some shows. Watts was recently on FX's "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell" series where he tore it up, watch:

The Price of Carbon highlights the direct link between fossil-fuel energy and dirty weather caused by carbon pollution, documenting the substantial costs to the American taxpayer — from repairing the devastation of Superstorm Sandy to emergency drought and flood relief.

The Price of Carbon is the newest video installment from The Climate Reality Project, and joins other notable videos such as Climate 101 featuring Bill Nye, Doubt, and hundreds of other videos that have been used widely by educators, activists, and policymakers alike. The Price of Carbon is intended to spur conversation about the true cost of carbon. Over the coming months, The Climate Reality Project will launch several exciting initiatives to move the carbon conversation forward and drive solutions.

“Climate disruption means rising insurance rates, higher medical bills, and a higher cost to taxpayers, to name just a few of the financial impacts,” said Maggie L. Fox, President and CEO of The Climate Reality Project. “It’s time to jump-start a conversation about the true cost of carbon pollution.”

The Climate Reality Project is one of the world’s leading organizations dedicated to mobilizing action around climate change. With a global movement more than 2 million strong and a grassroots network of trained Climate Leaders, we are spreading the truth and unleashing the cultural momentum to solve the climate crisis.

Former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore is the Founder and Chairman of The Climate Reality Project. For more information, visit www.climaterealityproject.org or follow us on Twitter at @ClimateReality.
