Give it up for Showtime, unlike HBO, the network has a love affair with comics still.

We get to look forward to the one woman show for Monique Marvez (Snoop Dogg's Bad Girls of Comedy, Original Latin Divas) in March, and we mourn the passing of the excellent comedy series "Green Room with Paul Provenza," a crackling effort that should by all rights STILL be on the air, considering the talent it pulled in.

My suggestion to Showtime is cut the wincingly awkward "Gigolos" and "Polyamory" stuff and go whole hog into comedy - it's a void they would fill nicely. The last thing Showtime wants is to become "Skinamax" (Cinemax) especially now that Cinemax is on fire with great thrillers like "Banshee" that do not involve soft-core tupperware bowl sized boobies.

Now we get the famous Laugh Factory treatment with the world Premiere of Chocolate Sundaes Comedy Show with Tommy Davidson Premiers February 7th on Showtime.

Actror and comedian Tommy Davidson debuted his Showtime comedy series, Chocolate Sundaes, with an exclusive premiere screening on Tuesday, February 5th, 2013 in Beverly Hills.

The red-carpet welcomed some of Hollywood’s most hilarious entertainers, industry tastemakers and Chocolate Sundaes cast including Tommy Davidson, Chocolate Sundaes producer, Pookey Wigington, J.B. Smoove, Finesse Mitchell, Michael Jai White, Showtime & Entertainment 1 executives and many more.

Anyone named Pookey Wigington is going to show you a good time, come on!

The star studded event included a Q&A with producer Pookey Wigington and host Tommy Davidson, a private screening and after party, with DJ Sidekick spinning the crowd into the night.

The comedy show debut had the crowd in stitches and producer Pookey Wigington could not have been more thrilled with the premiere, saying “The event was amazing. Chocolate Sundaes has stood on the shoulders of many young and seasoned comedians for years. The talent pool in Hollywood is so broad and this is a true testament to it by having such a diverse cast, led by legendary comedic actor Tommy Davidson. They have helped build a brand one customer at a time, starting local in Hollywood and now national and international. Thank you to the comedy world, performers and consumers. I am humbled.”

Produced every Sunday at the world famous Laugh Factory, Chocolate Sundaes Comedy Show is a one-of-a-kind, live comedy show featuring Los Angeles’ greatest side-splitting sketch acts. Creator and producer, Pookey Wigington continues to raise the bar for comedy, securing Chocolate Sundaes as a staple in Los Angeles for over 12 years.

His past Chocolate Sundaes guests have included renowned celebrity comedians including Kevin Hart, Jamie Foxx, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Dane Cooke, John Lovitz, Russell Peters, Bob Saggat, Cedric the Entertainer, and many more.

This season, Chocolate Sundaes comes to cable television. Producer Pookey Wigington secured a deal with Showtime for the show to debut on Feb. 7th, 2013 and to be repeated throughout the month.

Tommy Davidson and additional guest hosts will emcee a hilarious new comedy group with the most outrageously entertaining acts that we’ve seen yet. The show combines stand up with original comedy sketches reminiscent of the days of Carole Burnett. The tone is great comedy with universal appeal.

Chocolate Sundaes Comedy Show is a weekly comedy show emceed by special guest hosts at the historic Laugh Factory in Los Angeles Sunday nights.  The show boasts a powerful and flavorful mix of comedic talent, and comedy sketches from seasoned veteran comedians to the hottest up and coming talent.
