Britney Spears possible exit, will it even matter for 'The X Factor'?

If a tree falls in woods, does it make noise? If Britney Spears exits The X Factor judging panel, will it even be noticed?

The X Factor team is mum on the rumors that Spears is out at the struggling reality competition.

“No one has discussed next year's judging panel yet,” said a spokesperson to the Hollywood Reporter. “Any reports otherwise are complete speculation."

“Britney will get the boot," said usmagazine.com, "Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn't working."

In an interview with E! Online this month, Simon Cowell demurred on the show's 2013 season with Spears. "I don't know yet, to be honest with you," he said. "I haven't had the conversation with her whether she'd want to, what other commitments she's got.”

The revolving judges door includes Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, Cheryl Cole and L.A. Reid.
