Mo Rocca meets retired teacher and Fishkill, N.Y. resident Mary Gray and her three dearest friends - Lillian, Frances, and Estelle. The four widows lean on each other for everything, so family and friends dub them "The Golden Girls." Mary was born in in America, but she is of Polish descent, so she teaches Mo how to make multiple varieties of scrumptious perogies - some sweet and some savory. After prepping a delicious meal, Mary and her friends invite their families over for a luncheon and special performance.

The morning of her birthday, the couple's friend, Robert, distracts Debi so that Gabriele can run around to plan her surprise birthday gathering. Debi is blown away, grateful that her friends are there and ecstatic that her husband did actually remember.

The Spice Agent reports on paprika, Panos talks cream and Hans explains how, when it comes to food, we look for happiness in all the wrong places.

Bobby Deen learns how to make light, but still flavor-filled beer for his chicken at the Brooklyn Brew Shop. Brew experts Stephan Valand and Erica Shea whip up a special light brew that anyone can do at home, laced with flavors of savory orange and coriander. Later, Bobby’s good pal Vanessa Cantave stops by to eat and cook some delicious Drunken Chicken and Jalapeno Cheddar Corn Cakes. It’s a little south in your mouth!

Special guest appearances this season by Carla Hall and Eden Grinshpan.

Bobby Flay creates a brunch menu in the style of Italian trattorias—casual, laid back, and with plenty of family-style dishes.  First up, he cooks Cinnamon Mascarpone Pancakes with Warm Morello Cherries and Hazelnuts.  He’s also makes a Frittata with Cherry Tomatoes, Sausage, Arugula and Ricotta and serves it with a side of Rosemary Home Fries with Pancetta, Parmesan and Parsley.  To toast to a wonderful meal, he pours up a citrus and mint cocktail he calls a Citronata.

Around the globe, every country can agree it’s warm, filling, and a reminder of home and the delicious dishes Mom used to make.  On this episode, Aarti Sequeira dives into the number one global comfort foods starting with a unique Scandinavian family classic—hint: it’s not meatballs!  Aarti then introduces a Senegalese chef cooking up a scrumptious hot stew.  She discovers the British idea of comfort food with a sticky sweet dessert and the world tour ends when Aarti reveals the all-time favorite American comfort food dish served with a twist!

EMERIL LAGASSE’S EMERIL’S FLORIDA

“Dining and Entertainment in Orlando”
 Season Premiere Airing on Cooking Channel | Sunday, January 6th

10:30AM ET | 7:30AM PT

In the premiere episode, Emeril heads to Orlando making his first stop at The Ravenous Pig in Winter Park to whip up a delicious cobia dish with chef and owner James Petrakis.

Then, he stops in at his own restaurant, “Emeril’s Orlando,” for a surprise visit and heads to the kitchen, where he and the Culinary Director, Bernard Carmouche, prepare black grouper with sofrito, rock shrimp and avocado toast. After uncovering some of the freshest seafood in Orlando, Emeril explores the nightlife and entertainment that locals rave about including a stop at Vines Grille & Wine Bar, one of the best establishments for wine in the city.

He then escapes the Florida heat at ICEBAR Orlando where the temperature inside is 20 degrees Fahrenheit – the coldest place in Florida to get a cocktail. No trip would be complete without dessert, so Emeril makes his last stop at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort where he and Executive Pastry Chef David Ramirez sample some creative and delicious chocolates to round out a day of delicious food and drink exploration.
