Tune in alert for Academy Award, Emmy and Golden Globe winning actress Barbara Hershey (Once Upon a Time, Black Swan) who will star in the Lifetime Original Movie Left to Die as Sandra Chase, an American mother of two wrongly sent to an Ecuadorian prison for drug trafficking.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television and based on a true story, film and television veteran Rachael Leigh Cook will also star as Sandra’s determined daughter, Tammi Chase, in the movie, which is set to premiere on Sunday, November 4, 2012, at 9PM ET/PT.

From Lifetime

Having never left the United States, Sandra Chase (Hershey) bravely agrees to accompany a friend to Ecuador for a much needed vacation; but paradise quickly turns to misery when she is accosted at the airport in Quito and is unjustly imprisoned for drug trafficking. With no trial or any recourse, Sandra is sent to a women’s prison with subpar living conditions and is terrorized by the other inmates.

Meanwhile, Sandra’s daughter Tammi (Cook) is vigilantly working on getting her mother released from prison with limited knowledge of the laws and legal processes of Ecuador.

Unwavering in her belief of her mother’s innocence, Tammi is forced to drain her life savings while fighting with embassies and governments as she races against time to save her mother.  In Tammi’s determined fight for justice, she recruits a U.S. Congresswoman, Rep. Corinne Brown, and together they prevail in securing Sandra Chase’s release.

Left to Die is produced by Sony Pictures Television for Lifetime.  It is executive produced by Frank von Zerneck (Lifetime’s Natalee Holloway), Danielle von Zerneck (Living In Oblivion), Elizabeth Zox Friedman (Silent Witness), Greg Little (Silent Witness) and Tammi Chase.  Leon Ichaso (Medium) directed the movie from a script written by Agatha Dominik (Emmy® nominated Human Trafficking) and Suzette Couture (The Last Templar).
