'Sons of Anarchy' actress Taryn Manning assault charges

"Sons of Anarchy" actress Taryn Manning, who played a rough and tumble croweater on the FX hit series, was charged with misdemeanor assault Friday after attacking her friend, reports TMZ.

Manning was arrested Thursday (Oct. 11) in New York City for assaulting her friend and makeup artist, Holly Hartman.

Manning, also known for her role in "8 Mile," allegedly punched, scratched and choked Hartman and slammed her head against the floor and wall, according to documents released at her Friday arraignment (reported by New York Daily News).

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Alexander Tish released Manning without bail but ordered her to stay away from Hartman, 23, until the next hearing on Nov. 13. That may be difficult, though, since according to TMZ, the two women apparently live together.

Hartman, the makeup artist whom Manning is charged with assaulting, wants to drop all charges, Manning's lawyer Joe Tacopina told TMZ. According to the website, Manning and Hartman are close friends who are also roommates; a drunken fight after a night of partying led to the altercation.

Her lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, said the incident was not an assault, just "a little misunderstanding between the two."

The 33-year-old "Hustle & Flow" actress is due back in court November 13.
