Premise
Emily Owens, M.D., is an upcoming American medical drama television series created by Jennie Snyder Urman and stars Mamie Gummer (who's the daughter of award-winning actress Meryl Streep and has previously appeared on "The Big C" and "Good Wife") as the title character.
The show follows Emily Owens' rough start as a first-year intern at Denver Memorial Hospital, where she realizes that her med-school crush Will Rider (Justin Hartley) and her high school nemesis Cassandra Kopelson (Aja Naomi King) also work. The premise of the show highlights the similarities between workplace and high school. Cliques, insecurities, schoolgirl-type crushes and fears are still prevalent. Real life is just as awkward as high school and no matter how old one gets, outgrowing all juvenile ways is a hard thing to do.
