If an Emmy category can be specially carved out for an actor's split second reaction, it should go to Aaron Paul (Jesse) for his heart wrenching moment that closed this episode of AMC's exceptional "Breaking Bad."
"Breaking Bad" saw one hell of an old fashioned western train robbery tonight as Mike, Walt and Jesse coordinate a great chemical heist in the desert, with comedian and actor Bill Burr's help as the decoy. Burr is a terrific guest add to this cast.
Everything went extremely well with an edge of the seat sequence at the end, as caper cohort Landry Clarke Todd ruins the celebration by executing a gentle soul who was out collecting tarantulas in the desert.
"Dead Freight" sees Skyler seething still, keeping to her guns about the kids being out of the house, while Walt Jr. is unraveling at their discord and his being shuttled to uncle Hank's house.
Manic Lydia saves her neck and helps Mike and Walt with the great desert methylamine robbery by giving up the Intel. A plan is hatched.
The episode opens with a young boy on a dirt bike looking for tarantulas in the desert who finds one, handles it respectfully and gently scoops it into a mason jar. This is classic "Breaking Bad" foreshadowing and we feel this child is somehow going to fall into harm's way.
In the planning, Walt tells Todd that the robbery cannot be found out. Todd utterly destroys the jubilation of the successful heist by ending our sweet young lad's life in a shocking moment that is caught and captured beautifully in the anguish of Jessie Pinkman's face.
Pinkman's conscience of course will grow heavier over these actions, and how this affects his tenuous relationship with Walt remains to be seen.
This episode was perfect to me; what did you think of this week's effort?
