"They say truth brings light. It's the lies that live in darkness. But here we are in the moment of truth. Everything in my life has brought me to this point. It's what I am. It's all I am. I can accept that. But can she?"

So opens the teaser trailer of Showtime's noir twisty drama "Dexter", as Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) wrestles with the fact she in love with her "brother." And Dexter (Michael C. Hall) grapples with his deep secret, and how Deb will react if she learns of the scope of his serial killing ways.

This romance (or not) remains to be seen. Maybe now that Deb's seen Dexter unmasked, she'll rethink her feelings for him. While the teaser doesn't show us anything from Season 7, the emphasis is squarely on Deb and Dexter, "the truth" and whether or not Deb will be able to accept Dexter for who, or "what" he is.

Season 6 of the Showtime drama ended with Deb discovering Dexter in the midst of murdering his latest victim. To complicate things further, Deb had just admitted that she was in love with Dexter.

Add to that this brother-sister couple on screen were once married in real life, now divorced, and yet still are seen together.

Dexter's new teaser trailer reveals Deb's reaction to meeting her brother's dark passenger for the first time.

"Jesus, Dexter!" she cries as he begs, "Deb, it's me."

Watch the full trailer below.

"Dexter" returns Sunday, Sept. 30 at 9/8c on Showtime.
