Everybody dies. Everybody lies.

One of the better network wry dramedy series, Fox's "House," said farewell in a fiery blaze that felt a touch 'Easy Rider" and certainly bittersweet buddy-like in the vein of a "Thelma and Louise" moment.

Dr. Gregory House, addicted, brilliant and the contentious antihero of the medical world pulled off a great twist, and rode off into the sunset with his best buddy, terminal with cancer, Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard).

A scheme is hatched, and House plots to whisk him away from the agonizing waiting for the end. Better to hit the road and skirt jail in the process.

"You do remember I'm dying, don't you?" Wilson tells House.

House replies: "Which is why you'll never spend a day in jail..."I don't want to lose this time with you."

In a classic hallucination, House opines. "Everybody dies. It's meaningless."

Without spoiling for those who have not seen the finale, a tasty twist in the end awaits.

"He was a healer," said Wilson in a eulogy that quickly grew bitter: "House was an ass. ... He claimed to be on some heroic quest for the truth. But the truth is, he was a bitter jerk who liked making people miserable. And he proved that by dying selfishly, numbed by narcotics, without a thought of anyone."

But things aren't all they seem.

In the end, two friends plan an end of life adventure. No dwelling on disease or languishing in a hard hospital bed. Just open road.
